Approved by Punjab Nurses Registration Council (Punjab
government) , Indian Nursing Council (Govt. of India) and
affiliated with Baba Farid University of Health Sciences,
Faridkot.
Duration:
Four years including one year of compulsory internship.
Aims:
To prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as
professional, competent nurses and midwives in providing
promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.
After such training, one can make independent decisions in
nursing situations, protect the rights of and facilitate
individuals and groups in pursuit of health, function in the
hospital, community nursing services, and conduct research
studies in the areas of nursing practice. They are also
expected to assume the role of teacher, supervisor, and
manager in a clinical/health setting.
Description:
The course consists of four years of studies including one
year o f compulsory internship. Examinations are held
annually. The students have clinical experience under the
guidance of clinical instructors, various institutional and
community settings.
Eligibility:
Passing an examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher
Secondary examination after a period of 12 years study, the
last two years of study comprises of physics, chemistry and
biology which includes a practical test in these subjects and
also English as a compulsory subject. Age of 17 years.
Procedure of Admission:
Strictly based on Punjab Government notification governing
admission to B. Sc. Nursing Admission is on the basis of
Punjab Para Medical Entrance Test (PPMET) conducted by Baba
Farid University of Health Sciences.
The admission process will start with publication of Punjab
government notification for PPMET( Punjab Paramedical Entrance
Test). The prospectus of PPMET is available at office of BFUHS
and at the branches of banks & institutions specified by the
university.Detail information will be available at the website
of BFUHS babafariduniv.com. The candidate is required to fill
up the form given in the BFUHS Prospectus and appear for the
entrance test. Thereafter a centralized counseling will be
held at the venue specified by the BFUHS. During the
counseling the candidates are required to opt for the college
of their choice. Usually arrangement is made for candidates
for submission of fees at the venue of counseling.
NRI Seats:
Certain percentage of the seats as decided by government shall
be earmarked for foreign Indian students as part of management
quota. The equivalence, merit and eligibility of candidates
for NRI seats will be determined by the Baba Farid University
of Health Sciences, Faridkot who will issue an eligibility
certificate.
NRI Candidates are not required to take an entrance test.
However, they should have pass qualifying examination in the
subject of Physics, chemistry Biology and English individually
as regular candidate from recognized institution/ university
and should have obtained 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and
Biology individually and combined. For admission against NRI
seats, the candidate shall apply to BFUHS, Faridkot.
Management Seats:
Certain percentage of seats as decided by Punjab govt. will be
kept as management seats. This will include NRI seats,
candidates from other states and admission to these will be
done on the basis of criteria laid down by government
notification.
